Start Your AssessmentWhat running does to your body.
Running looks simple. But every step sends force through your foot, ankle, knee, hip, and lower back. Over a long training week, that adds up to millions of cycles of load. Most running injuries are not caused by one bad step. They build slowly over time when training load increases faster than the body can handle.
At H.O.M.E, House of Movement & Excellence in Saket, South Delhi, we treat recreational runners, competitive athletes, and marathon runners from across Delhi NCR. We look at the full picture of your training, your body mechanics, and your goals to build a rehabilitation plan that gets you back running and keeps you running.
Common running injuries we treat.
Knee Pain & Runner’s Knee
Patellofemoral pain, IT band syndrome, and patellar tendinopathy are the most common knee problems in runners. They are caused by training load, muscle imbalance, and running mechanics. All respond well to targeted rehabilitation.
Shin Splints & Stress Fractures
Pain along the shin bone from high training volume on hard surfaces. Left unmanaged, shin splints progress to stress fractures which require significantly longer time away from running. Early assessment is important.
Achilles Tendon Injuries
The Achilles tendon absorbs enormous load with every running stride. Achilles tendinopathy causes pain and stiffness, particularly in the morning. Proper progressive loading is the key to recovery and prevention of rupture.
Plantar Fasciitis
Pain under the heel and arch of the foot on first steps in the morning. Very common in runners who increase mileage quickly. Responds well to treatment but needs proper management to prevent it becoming a long-term problem.
Hamstring Injuries
Hamstring strains from speed work and sprinting are common in athletics athletes. High hamstring tendinopathy from long distance running affects many marathon and half marathon runners and requires specific rehabilitation.
Hip & Glute Problems
Glute weakness is one of the most common underlying causes of running injuries. Hip flexor tightness, glute tendinopathy, and hip labral problems all affect running efficiency and cause pain during and after training.
The H.O.M.E approach for runners.
Training load assessment
Most running injuries are training load problems. Your appointed doctor looks at your weekly mileage, your pace, your surface, and your history to understand why the injury happened. Fixing the injury without fixing the cause means it comes back.
One dedicated doctor every session
Every session at H.O.M.E is one full hour with one dedicated doctor. Your doctor tracks your progress session by session and adjusts your programme based on how your body is responding. You are never repeating a session that has already served its purpose.
Return to running as the target
Your programme moves through pain management, strength rebuilding, and a graded return to running. You go from walking to jogging to running to training load in a planned progression. Every step is monitored before the next one begins.
Recovery timelines for running injuries.
Pain Management & Load Reduction
Reducing pain and inflammation. Modifying training load. Keeping you moving without making the injury worse. Typically weeks 1 to 2.
Strength & Mobility Rebuilding
Building strength in the injured area and in the muscles that support running mechanics. Restoring full range of motion. Weeks 2 to 6.
Return to Running Programme
Walk to jog to run progression. Gradual increase in distance and pace. Running mechanics monitored throughout. Weeks 4 to 10.
Return to Full Training
Full training load resumed with a plan to prevent re-injury. Race preparation where applicable. Clear milestones before each progression.
